Support

Telegram is the support channel for VersusSync Ex: questions, bugs, and App Store feedback.

In the app, Help (⌘?) covers timeline, markers, OTIO, and pane modes.

What it is

Put versions on tracks, trim edits, mark In/Out, and watch in sync on 1–4 panes. Different FPS is fine. Not a pixel-diff engine: a fast way to find and match differences, or a player with markers and a timeline.

How to work

Example: compare two edit versions. Full Help is also inside the app (⌘?).

  1. Load the takes

Open files or drop them on a pane, track, or Media Pool so clips and timeline segments appear.

    ⌘O · drag & drop from Finder

  2. Play in sync

One playhead drives every track. Step frames or shuttle like an NLE.

    Space · ←/→ · J / K / L · panes 1–4

  3. Split and trim

Cut each version into scenes, then nudge edits (Side A / Roll / B, or Gap for empty space).

    H split · T trim · I / O In–Out · C X Z V B edit

  4. Align the versions

Link matching scenes across tracks, snap them to the playhead, or shift a whole track.

    W Link · Q Align · ⌥-drag track

  5. Compare the picture

Difference and Curtain show change; Scopes help QC. Zoom in to inspect detail.

    ⌘1–⌘5 modes · ⌥-drag zoom · ⇧-drag pan · ⌘F fullscreen

  6. Mark and hand off

Leave comments on markers, export them to common NLE formats, or save the project as OTIO.

    M marker · ⌥↑/⌥↓ jump · Export Markers · Open/Save .otio

FAQ

Who is VersusSync Ex for?
Editors, QC, and VFX who need to compare versions side by side, leave markers, and stay in sync: not a full NLE for finishing a show from scratch.
Is this an automatic pixel-diff / change detector?
No. Difference and Curtain help you see change by eye. You still decide what matches and where to put markers.
Can tracks have different frame rates?
Yes. Sync follows time on a shared playhead. Different FPS on tracks is fine.
How do I line up two versions?
Select matching segments and press W (Link), then Q (Align) to snap to the playhead. Or Option-drag a whole track. See Help → Three levels of sync.
What are Difference, Curtain, and Scopes?
Pane modes (⌘1–⌘5). Difference amplifies A−B; Curtain is a wipe between two sources; Scopes are GPU waveform / parade / vectorscope for QC.
Where do my files live? Media Pool?
Clips live in the Media Pool (press F outside fullscreen, or drop folders there). OP-Atom MXF groups automatically. Timeline segments point at pool clips.
How do I save and reopen a session?
Open/Save a VersusSync project as .otio (timeline + Media Pool). You can also import a single foreign OTIO track onto a track.
Which marker formats work?
Import/export includes XMP, XML, FCP7, Avid, CSV, DaVinci CSV, RTF, EDL (formats still evolving). Use the Markers window (⌘L) or Export Markers.
Does the app upload my media or need an account?
No. Media stays on your Mac. See the Privacy Policy.
Can I change shortcuts?
Yes. Settings (⌘,) → Keyboard. In-app Help (⌘?) lists the current bindings.
